English 12 Honors provides a rigorous, in-depth exploration of British literature from the Anglo-Saxon and Medieval periods through the Romantic, Victorian, and Modern Eras. Students will engage with a wide range of genres—poetry, short stories, essays, and drama—while examining literary elements within historical and cultural contexts. Core texts include Shakespeare’s Macbeth and other significant works from major literary movements. Honors students will write analytical, expository, and creative pieces, including a research paper and a Romantic-style poem. Grammar instruction is embedded throughout, with a focus on sentence structure, pronouns, and clarity. This course challenges students to engage in higher-order thinking, independent research, and thoughtful literary discussion.
