In this course, students will learn key mathematical concepts such as multiplication, division, patterns, rounding, mental math, 2-D shapes, area, perimeter, fractions, data interpretation, time, mass, and capacity. Concepts are developed through problem-solving, reasoning, communication, representation, and making connections to real-world contexts. By building both conceptual knowledge and procedural fluency, students will strengthen their mathematical thinking and reasoning skills, enabling them to solve a variety of authentic problems with confidence and accuracy.
In this course, students will explore a range of topics in both life and earth science. Key concepts include energy transfer and forms such as mechanical energy, sound, light, heat, and electric currents, as well as the internal structures of plants and animals, including their systems of reproduction and adaptation. Students will also study the brain in animals, how the brain processes information, weathering, erosion, Earth’s layers, and natural disasters. Additionally, they will examine natural energy resources and the importance of resource conservation and environmental impact. Throughout the course, students will have numerous opportunities to plan experiments, test hypotheses, organize and analyze data, and make real-world connections to strengthen their understanding of the natural world.
